JESSICA STRICKLAND
PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS
PLANNING PROFESSIONAL ADVISORY BOARD (PAB)
I was asked to be the student representative for the Griffith University Planning Professional Advisory Board (PAB). This role involved reporting back to the PAB on potential ways to improve the Griffith University Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning degree.
PLANNING STUDIO TEACHING STAFF
I have worked as a demonstrator and tutor in the Griffith University Introductory Planning Studio under Dr. Caryl Bosman annually since 2012. This role involves teaching and overseeing the first year Griffith planning students in their studies. I have to use my excellent leadership, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
UHPH CONFERENCE PAPER
I coauthored and submitted a paper on the value of place and development conflicts on the Southport Spit to the Urban History Planning History Conference in 2014.
COUNCIL OF CITY OF GOLD COAST VOLUNTEERING
I undertook unpaid experience at the Gold Coast City Council in 2013 to contribute within their development assessment section and to improve my personal understanding of the profession.
PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL GRIFFITH STUDENTS (PEGS)
I, along with another planning student Thomas Holmes, worked to reinvigorate the Griffith planning students' association, PEGS, in 2012-13. The major aim was to connect the association and the students to the industry.
GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY PEER MENTOR
I have been a peer mentor within the Griffith University Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning degree annually since 2012 and was promoted to Head Peer Mentor in 2015. This role involves supporting future planners through the first year of their planning degree.
